ME

So you've found my site!  Wonderful!  Please take a moment to get to know a little about me on this page and hopefully any questions you have will be answered.

I am a photographer based out of the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania in the US on this little planet we call Earth.  Self-taught in everything from photography to web design, graphic design, computer hardware & software, and networking I have a wide array of knowledge gained over 16 years of experimentation and exploration in all things tech.

My photographic passions include automotive event coverage, motor sport coverage, and automotive feature shoots but I am certainly not limited to just one spectrum.  I also have a strong passion for commercial architecture, food, portraiture, and travel photography,

MY HISTORY

Ever since I was young I have been of a creative mind which I can thank my father for as we were always building & creating things together in my childhood.  From rockets to pine wood derby cars to drawings, paintings, and clay in art class I've always loved it all.

Back in the late 90's in high  school my passion for creating evolved into a love of computers including both hardware and software.  I just couldn't get enough of either and it built up to the point where I founded a small IT business which I ran while attending Penn State for Business.  Over those years I found myself having more and more interest in creating graphics, web sites, and more importantly digital photography.

Starting off in Adobe Photoshop 4.0 in '96 and working through each version until now I have honed my photo post processing down to a science.  Of course with advances in software technology all of my work has now migrated into Lightroom which I use for 95% of my work  with Photoshop for advanced effects when called upon.  It's amazing to see software technology advance and improve the end results of our grunt photography work and I'm certainly grateful for it.

MY GEAR

Often I am asked what gear I use and the response often surprises those who ask.  My first digital camera was a Canon Powershot G2 where I learned the basics of photography in 2001. With a decent 4MP sensor and ability for full manual this is where I started experimenting.

Moving on from that I jumped into the SLR world with a Canon XTi, then T2i, then 60D, and finally 5D MK II as my abilities improved and needs increased.  However at this point, a revolution took place when I got my hands on the Sony SLT-A77V  which has forever more changed the way I shoot.

I am now proud to say I am 100% a Sony shooter making the switch to the Sony A77, Sony A7, and Sony A6000 along with various lenses and complimenting accessories.

On the computer end of things I use a 15" Retina MacBook Pro and a custom built water-cooled PC that has been ever evolving over the past 14 years.

PC Specs: i7 2.4 @ 4.0ghz, 24gb DDR3 triple channel, Asus Rampage III, GTX770, Quadro 380 FX, Corsair 1200w, 3ware 9650SE, Intel I350-T2 NIC, 1 x 1TB Mushkin SSD, 2 x 500gig hybrid drives - Raid 1, 4 x 1TB - Raid 5, 2 x 2TB - Raid 1,  HP LP2475w 24" IPS display, 2 x Dell 2007WFP 20" IPS display.  I will be retiring this system once the next gen x99 chipset is released along with quad chan DDR4.

For further gear related questions please head over to the lessons section where I am now offering private one on one sessions discussing what to start off with taking into account your budget and photographic goals. I also have lessons covering post processing software, how-to's, and general photography to help improve your workflow.
